Artfully crafted by expert artisans, this statue is a replica of those found at a Chinese archaeological dig. In 1974, well-diggers stumbled on a huge underground vault containing thousands of life size clay soldiers. The vault turned out to be Lintong, the burial ground of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the first emperor to unify China in a series of bloody wars between 246 and 221 B.C. These stoic terracotta has been weathered and given a muddy texture to capture the look of the original statues which now reside in a Chinese museum.
